Nicole's TEDx 2015 Talk
Update: This post has been edited to include the recorded TED Talk! Check out the video to see Nicole Sorochan's insights on impact.
Victoria's fifth annual TEDx conference is happening this November 21st with events at three venues around town – and this year, the theme is (drumroll...) IMPACT. Isn't that fitting?
We're all quite excited, not just because impact is something we're very enthusiastic about here at One Net Studios, but also because our co-founder/Transmedia Director Nicole Sorochan is one of this year's speakers. She will be giving a talk at the McPherson Playhouse, where the particular topic of focus is 'Ideas Worth Spreading' .
There are a ton of other great minds on the bill this year, including Frances Krusekopf, pioneer of Victoria's first Nature Kindergarten program; Melissa Ann Daniels, Harvard-educated lawyer who led her nation (Athabasca Chipewyan) in its litigation against Canada and the oilsands industry; and Nathan Keune, a local grade 12 student who developed a self-diagnostic test for a rare genetic disorder.
Without giving too much away, Nicole's talk will include a glimpse into the experiences that led her to pursue impact creation for a living; specifically, our recent Amplify HER project and how she took the film's premise and used it to build a positive movement around the new feminine paradigm.
Last week Nicole was featured on The Zone where they've been inviting some of the TEDx speakers to preview their speeches. Have a listen, then go buy your ticket!
More about the feminine paradigm in this great interview published in Douglas Magazine:
WANTED: Actors for lightly comedic automotive service video
One Net Inc. is looking for actors (speaking and non-speaking) that can help us flesh out a few fun scenes at a generic car dealership. Specifically, customers and vehicle service centre customer service agents.
From street fighting to illustration; our graphic design intern.
One Net had the opportunity in August to do something we don’t normally do—work with a graphic design intern! Our newest (and most enthusiastic) team member, Alisa, joined us for a whirlwind month of new projects, and more.
ONN: One down, many more to go!
One Net recently launched a new quarterly program that allows us to work for people in our own backyard. This is important to us because while we live, work, play and create in Victoria BC, most of our clients are in completely different time zones.
